Two key questions asked in the Bible:
Question #1
Who do you say I am?
Question #2
What must I do to be saved?
Jesus asked this very question. It remains the most important question that any human can answer.
The correct answer is given by Simon Peter in Mark 8:29,“You are the Messiah”. If you’ve never heard this before, a little explanation is needed:
The Messiah is the anointed messenger, the long-expected savior for the Jews. The Messiah is also prophesied to be a covenant for the people who brings salvation and forgiveness of sins and who redeems Israel from its sin. (Isaiah 42:6)
Why would the Jews need saving? Simply put, they had sinned against God. They knew that God is the Creator. They knew that man had been made sinless, fell in sin, and all humanity is guilty of sin. They knew that God commanded them to “be holy, as I am holy.” They knew they weren’t holy. They knew because God revealed His law to them, and they were constantly giving sacrifices for forgiveness of sin. They knew and we know WE are ALL sinners. We are unholy, unworthy to be in God’s presence.
Jesus IS the anointed One, the Messiah. He is “the bread of life” (John 6:35), “the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world” (John 1:29), “I and the Father are one” (John 10:30). He is one who's “kingdom is not of this world” (John 18:36), and who “lays down his life” (John 10:11) for sinners. He is the only one who is without sin, born of a virgin, arrested, crucified, buried, and resurrected. He is the eternal King who ascended to heaven and sits, enthroned at the right hand of God.

When faced with their sin at Pentecost, as recorded in Acts 2, the Jewish crowd hears Peter publicly declare that Jesus is both Lord and Christ. Their response to Peter may echo your own: “What must we do to be saved?”
“Repent and be baptized” was Peter’s answer.
REPENT: In order to repent, one must turn away from the way that they live to move in the opposite direction. Instead of sinfully running away from God, we run toward Him.
You can only repent by acknowledging Jesus is who scripture says He is, and by putting your entire faith in Him for salvation.
God gives us a promise in scripture: if, in faith, we “confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us” (1 John 1:9). That is quite a promise. Instead of any righteousness we could try to create on our own, we receive Christ’s righteousness. We are given entry into heaven, and are spared the destruction of those who die in their sins.
Do you see your sin, those times where you have denied God’s commands? Do you feel your unworthiness to stand before Him at your death? Are you ready to repent and believe in Christ?
We pray you are. We pray you will contact us and ask to speak with us about salvation in Jesus Christ. We pray to see you be saved, repent, and believe in Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.
